Matador(a)
Devised and performed by:
Adam Foster and Susan Kempster
Adam Foster and Susan Kempster, a creative partnership comprising, respectively, a playwright and performer and a choreographer and dancer/performer. Together we devise contemporary performance work. Having met on parallel MA programmes at Royal Holloway University of London, we form a charismatic and unusual cross-generational and multidisciplinary duo.
Matador(a)
Framed by the pomp and ceremony of bullfighting and inspired by a catalogue of performers who have died on stage, Matador(a) explores what happens when vacuous spectacle is usurped by genuine liveness. In a world where we find ourselves more emotionally engaged by videos of cute kittens on the internet than unimaginable human tragedies in the distant Third World, we want to challenge our audience to interrogate what they really feel at a time when we are witnessing an arbitrary disintegration of empathy.
Matador (a)
