Mentoring
Mentoring
I mentor choreographers and dance artists who want to develop their practice, strengthen their professional position and move their careers forward.

Over the past several years I have become increasingly experienced in mentoring choreographers, alongside my own career as a choreographer, performer and teacher. I bring more than forty years of experience in the dance field, together with a deep understanding of the particular challenges and possibilities of developing a choreographic career.
What I offer is both intuitive and practical. I am good at seeing where someone is, recognising what is already strong, and identifying what might help them move to the next level. Sometimes that means refining an artistic proposition or finding the language to articulate what makes your work distinctive. Sometimes it is about approaching the right people, developing professional relationships, preparing for a meeting or commission, navigating an application, or making a strategic decision about where to put your energy.
I can often see possibilities that someone is too close to their own work to see for themselves. I can also ask the questions that open something up, offer a different perspective, or simply provide the encouragement to make a move that has been waiting to happen.
My approach is generous and inspiring, but also down to earth. I don’t believe in prescribing a formula for a choreographic career. Every artist has a different trajectory. My role is to listen carefully, understand where you are, and help you see more clearly what might be possible and what could come next.
Sometimes one conversation can change the way you see what is possible. Sometimes the value lies in having someone alongside you over a period of time.
Ways of working
I offer one-to-one mentoring for choreographers and dance artists seeking thoughtful, experienced and strategically minded support at a significant point in their development.
01
One-off mentoring session
A focused conversation around a particular question, challenge, decision or opportunity. Ideal when you need an experienced outside perspective, some fresh thinking, or clarity about what to do next.
02
Ongoing mentoring
A series of sessions over an agreed period, allowing us to work more deeply and build on each conversation. This can be particularly valuable when you are developing a new direction, seeking to strengthen your professional profile, or navigating a significant transition in your career.
