Se han perfeccionado sus sonrisas

Se han perfeccionado sus sonrisas by Susan Kempster

The idea for this piece came from an article about the Chinese hostesses for the Beijing Olympics that was accompanied by a photo of hundreds of Chinese women in straight lines, all with exactly the same smile, one that had been “practiced” by placing toothpicks between their teeth in order to achieve just the right aperture of the lips.

Dance, music and video Project, integrating musicians and dancers and the video camera in the performance space. The musicians move, the dancers make sounds or sing, and the camera is in the middle, below, in front and behind observing details that escape us. Images are projected live onto small mobile screens; the video projector can be moved to change the projection surface and thus changing the performance space, transforming it according to the moment of the piece.
